On March 11, 2025, as part of the 2024-25 Restoration Project Lunch and Learn Science Speaker Series, Nathan Van Schmidt of the San Francisco Bay Bird Observatory laid out the challenges facing waterbirds of the Pacific Flyway within the Restoration Project and shared more than two decades of monitoring data on phalaropes and other foraging guilds including shorebirds, ducks, and terns.
